Here is the link of “Lullaby” from the Pulitzer winning opera “The Consul” by Gian Carlo Menotti (1950). The mother of a political activist, John Sorel, sings a lullaby to her dying baby grandson. Hope you enjoy the haunting melody and beautiful poetry.
This is one of my favorite German art songs, “Seit ich ihn gesehen” (Since I first saw him), from the song cycle, “Frauenliebe und Leben” (A Woman’s Love and Life) Opus 42, by Robert Schumann. Hope you enjoy!
This is my recent recording of Manuel de Falla’s art song, “Prayer of the mothers embracing their children”. I sang in D minor, and I think many mezzos can comfortably sing in this key. I am planning to add subtitles to the video soon. Enjoy!
Back stage at Carnegie Weil Recital Hall on February 2. I know it is always a backstage photo, but photo or video is prohibited at Carnegie without permission.. I had fun singing “Ma rendi pur content” by Bellini and “Una voce poco fa” from “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” by Rossini. ❤ “Una voce” is certainly a crowd-pleaser!
